Privacy Policy

Last Updated: February 15, 2025

At burstlyte, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains how we handle your personal information when you use our financial modeling platform and services.

We're based in Vietnam and operate according to local data protection regulations, but we serve clients globally. That means we follow strict standards to keep your data secure, no matter where you are.

This document might seem long, but we believe in transparency. We've broken everything down into clear sections so you can find what matters to you.

What Information We Collect

Running a financial modeling platform means we need certain information to provide our services effectively. Here's what we gather and why:

Account Information

When you create an account, we ask for basic details like your name, email address, and password. If you're signing up as a business, we'll also need your company name and tax identification number for proper invoicing.

Financial Data You Upload

This is the heart of what we do. When you work on financial models through our platform, you might upload spreadsheets, financial statements, or other documents. We store these securely so you can access your work anytime.

Usage Information

Like most online services, we track how you interact with our platform. This includes which features you use, how often you log in, and what kind of models you create. This helps us improve the service and fix problems quickly.

Technical Data

Your browser and device automatically send us technical information like IP addresses, browser type, and operating system. We use this to make sure our platform works smoothly across different devices.

How We Use Your Information

We're not in the business of selling your data. Everything we collect serves a specific purpose related to providing and improving our financial modeling services.

  • Delivering the core service you signed up for, including storing your financial models and processing your calculations
  • Sending you important updates about your account, billing notifications, and service changes
  • Troubleshooting technical issues when something goes wrong
  • Analyzing usage patterns to understand which features are most valuable and where we can improve
  • Preventing fraud and maintaining platform security
  • Complying with legal requirements under Vietnamese law and international regulations

We occasionally send educational content about financial modeling best practices, but you can opt out of these messages anytime. The critical account-related emails will still reach you though, because you need those.

Data Storage and Security

Your financial data is sensitive, and we treat it that way. All data is encrypted both in transit and at rest using industry-standard protocols.

Where We Store Data

Our primary servers are located in secure data centers within Vietnam, with backup systems in Singapore. This setup ensures fast access for our regional users while maintaining data redundancy.

Security Measures

We employ multiple layers of protection. Our infrastructure includes firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and regular security audits. All employees with data access undergo background checks and sign strict confidentiality agreements.

Access to your financial models is restricted to authorized personnel only, and only when necessary to provide support or maintain the system. We log every access for audit purposes.

Data Retention

We keep your account information and financial models for as long as your account remains active. After you close your account, we retain certain data for 90 days to allow for account recovery if you change your mind. After that period, we permanently delete all personal information except what we're legally required to keep for tax and accounting purposes.

Sharing Your Information

We don't sell your personal information to anyone. Period. But we do work with carefully selected service providers who help us operate the platform.

Service Providers

These companies help us with specific tasks like cloud hosting, payment processing, and customer support tools. They only get access to the information needed to perform their specific function, and they're bound by strict confidentiality agreements.

Legal Requirements

Sometimes we're legally required to disclose information to Vietnamese authorities or international law enforcement. This happens rarely, and only when we receive a valid legal request. We review each request carefully and only provide the minimum information necessary.

Business Transfers

If burstlyte is acquired by another company or merges with one, your information would be transferred as part of that transaction. We'd notify you beforehand and ensure the new entity honors this privacy policy.

Your Rights and Control

Your data belongs to you. Here's what you can do with it:

Access and Download

You can download all your financial models and account data anytime through your account settings. The export includes everything in standard formats like CSV and JSON.

Correction and Updates

Found a mistake in your account information? You can update most details directly in your profile. For changes that require verification, contact our support team.

Deletion

Want to leave? You can delete your account from the settings page. This triggers permanent deletion of your data after the 90-day grace period mentioned earlier.

Data Portability

Need to move your financial models to another platform? We provide clean exports in widely-used formats. No lock-in tricks or proprietary formats that trap your data.

To exercise any of these rights, log into your account or email us at info@burstlyte.com. We respond to all requests within 10 business days.

Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies to make the platform work properly and remember your preferences. Some are essential, others are optional.

Essential Cookies

These keep you logged in and remember your basic settings. Without them, the platform wouldn't function. You can't disable these while using the service.

Analytics Cookies

We use these to understand how people use the platform. This helps us identify confusing interfaces or features that nobody uses. You can opt out of analytics tracking in your account settings.

Third-Party Cookies

We don't allow third-party advertising cookies on our platform. The only external cookies come from our payment processor during checkout, and those are necessary to complete transactions securely.

International Data Transfers

While our servers are in Vietnam and Singapore, some of our service providers operate from other countries. This means your data might occasionally cross borders.

When we transfer data internationally, we use standard contractual clauses approved by data protection authorities. These legal agreements ensure that companies receiving your data maintain the same protection standards we do.

If you're located in the European Union or other regions with strict data protection laws, these safeguards ensure your rights travel with your data.

Children's Privacy

Our platform is designed for professionals and businesses. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16 years old.

If we discover that we've accidentally collected data from someone under 16, we delete it immediately. If you're a parent and believe your child has provided us with information, contact us right away.

Changes to This Policy

We update this policy occasionally to reflect new features, legal requirements, or changes in how we operate.

When we make significant changes, we'll notify you by email and display a prominent notice on the platform. Minor updates might just get a revised date at the top of this page.

Continuing to use burstlyte after we update the policy means you accept the changes. If you disagree with a major change, you can close your account before it takes effect.

Vietnam-Specific Provisions

As a company operating in Vietnam, we comply with the country's cybersecurity laws and data localization requirements.

Data Localization

Primary copies of Vietnamese users' personal data are stored within Vietnam as required by Decree 13/2023/ND-CP. Backup copies in Singapore comply with cross-border data transfer requirements.

Government Requests

We respond to lawful requests from Vietnamese authorities according to local legal procedures. When permitted by law, we notify users before disclosing their information.

Local User Rights

Vietnamese users have specific rights under local law, including the right to withdraw consent, the right to restrict processing, and the right to file complaints with the Ministry of Public Security if they believe their privacy rights have been violated.

Questions or Concerns?

If something in this policy is unclear or you have specific privacy questions, we're here to help.
